I’m having the exact same issue, except it happens to about 50% of the clips that I capture. They randomly capture in 655×480 instead of the 720×480! It is extremely frustrating!!

These then need to be turned into DV (or, better yet, Apple’s ProRes) files for editing in FCP or Avid, and for that I usually go with Compressor. This assumes access to Final Cut Studio 2, but I’ve gotten some great results for the Cincinnati Film Fringe Festival (all-DVD entries) using this method.
