It seems like James Cameron is really pushing the boundaries of filmmaking with his next film. Pay special attention to the part where Cameron discusses how he is able to shoot multiple virtual camera setups long after the actors have gone home.

I had the good fortune of attending this year’s Unity convention in Chicago (which, by the way, is a wonderful city. I’m not surprised Batman lives there). Of all the events I attended, the most useful was a writing workshop by Dr. Roy Peter Clark of The Poynter Institute. Based off his recent book, Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer, Dr. Clark presented a brief overview of 50 writing tools that would improve the quality of your writing. Although targeted at journalists, I thought his strategies were equally relevant to screenwriters. Podcasts describing each tool are here. A one-sheet PDF is here. Storytellers should pay particular attention to 29, 30, 31, and 34.
Brand Thyself

I just received my new business cards in the mail. I ordered from GotPrint.com and I’m really happy with the great quality and fast service. I recommend their service if you need to print business cards, postcards, or other promotional materials for your film.
On my business cards, I’m using the same graphic as the banner on this website. I’m also putting the banner on the cover of my reel. This is all an effort to visually brand myself, which is very important when you’re trying to stand out in a competitive market. How do you brand yourself to stand out from the competition?
