LOUISVILLE’S ‘TALKING STAIN’ DIRECTOR TO SCREEN SHORT FILM AT DERBY CITY FILM FESTIVAL

Louisville filmmaker Saqib Siddik, director of the Tide talking stain ad “You Never Listen”, will screen his short film, “The Passing”, at the Derby City Film Festival on Sunday, October 12, 2008 during a block of three short films starting at 5:30pm. The screening will take place at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium. Siddik wrote, directed, and composed the soundtrack for this coming-of-age film about a young boy who finds out his grandfather has a terminal illness and then discovers he has the power to keep Grandpa alive. This screening is the Kentucky state premiere of the film. Tickets are available for $6 at the festival box office. “The Passing” also has played at the Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival, International Student Film Festival Hollywood, and South Bay Film Festival.

LOUISVILLE FILMMAKER’S TIDE CONTEST TV AD CHOSEN TO AIR ON NATIONAL TV

Louisville filmmaker Saqib Siddik will get to see his ad on national TV. Tide selected the commercial he entered in the Tide To-Go Instant Stain Remover commercial contest. Saqib’s 30-second spot, “You Never Listen,” will air on TV nationwide on NBC on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 during “America’s Got Talent” (8-10pm EST). The commercial features two actors: Paras Tiwari (from Louisville area) and Veronica Sanders (formerly of Louisville).

Saqib was a top-10 finalist nationally in the “My Talking Stain” contest sponsored by Tide and YouTube: www.youtube.com/mytalkingstain.  Though he did not win the public voting competition, Tide company officials decided to air his commercial because they loved both the original concept and the funny performances from the actors.

Louisville filmmaker Saqib Siddik has been chosen as a TOP 10 FINALIST in the Tide To-Go Instant Stain Remover commercial contest. His commercial features local actors. Visitors to the “My Talking Stain” webpage on YouTube can vote for their favorite ad once a day through Monday, March 24. The ad with the most votes can be aired on national TV and other Tide promotions.
